Computer Security is very valuable in todays’ CyberWorld. Let me introduce you to a good solution for your networks. Set up a Windows Honeypot so you can trap a hacker by making him believe that it’s an actual computer. It really is a good trap for hackers. This is one way you can beef up your security on your own network.

Here is a link below if you’re interested in setting up one of these honeypots on your Windows Network.

Google Hacking

There is more to Google than you know. Some people just search while others may find ways to compromise your Central Processing Unit (CPU) or a Server. Google is a very powerful tool to hackers that are trying to track down exploits or vulnerabilities in systems. Here is what a hacker might do to compromise your system.

To use these methods you will need to go to Google and type in the commands after the —> into their search bar….

Remote Desktop Connection —> “VNC Desktop” inurl:5800

Compromise Unix User and Passwords —> filetype:pwd service

To Find Sensitive Information such as Passwords and Financial Stuff
—> filetype:bak inurl:”htaccess | passwd | shadow | htusers”

Database Hacking —> filetype:properties inurl:db intext:password

IIS Hacking —> intitle:”Welcome to IIS 4.0″

Edu Hacking —> “not for distribution” confidential site:edu

Hackers use all of these techniques above to compromise a system. After they compromise it, they will use it to hop around and hack other computers; at least that would be the way a smart hacker would go so he would not be found. This is one of many attacks that Internet Hackers may use.

SEO for Hurricane Dean Information.

SEO Process Overview

I found it interesting that our own local Houston Chronicle had the 3rd and 4th news stories on Google tonight. The Wikipedia site, almost always, comes up under the search results, if it has the topic. This is the first major hurricane of the 2007 Hurricane Season, and the strongest Tropical Cyclone in the Atlantic Basin since Hurricane Wilma in 2005. As of today, the storm is moving through the Eastern Carribean. Hurricane Dean has killed 3 people in the Lesser Antilles.

Directory One, Inc. helps people get articles, blogs, and websites to rank high on Googles’ search results. I’ll keep an eye on SEO associated with this storm and report back to you.

It is also interesting to me how only 2 people are on the sponsored section of Google right now, at 11:27 PM Eastern Time on 8-18-2007.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) with Web 2.0 Standards and Social Network Marketing

Search Engine Marketing Information

Is your firm up to date on your Website Design? Does it consider Web 2.0 and Social Network Marketing? It may be beneficial. Web 2.0 is a  second generation of web-based and hosting communities. Social Networking Sites like Wikipedia, MySpace, Digg and websites, said to use folksonomic tagging, like del.icio.us and Flickr, can help create collaboration and sharing between us. Wikipedia presents a “list of notable” social networking websites. You can check them out.

A conference brainstorming session took place in 2005 with Tim O’Reilly and Media Live International. Dale Dougherty and O’Reilly helped explore the meaning of the phrase Web 2.0. O’Reilly writes an excellent, informative article entitled, What is Web 2.0?. One benefit of this article is clarifying the core competencies of Web 2.0 companies. One such competency is said to be “harnessing collective intelligence”. The entire Web Community can benefit from this breakthrough knowledge.

A. Full Internet Protocol (IP) Addresses and Hosting

B. Keyword Rich Domain Names, What-I Sell-And-Where-I-Sell-It.com
    (http://seolouisville.com/)

C. URL Extensions
    (http://www.directoryone.com/search_engine_optimization.htm)

D. Directory Structure
    (www.directoryone.com/search-engine-marketing/austin/index.htm)

The 4 areas above were covered in “Part 1″ of Knowledge and Execution Needed In Search Engine Marketing.

This week you’ll understand the importance of knowing how one page will rank the best under one or two phrases, and that’s about all. Center your text on the page around your keywords and keyphrases. Go for phrases that will create some traffic.

This page was designed to help Directory One, Inc. rank under search engine optimization. The content of the page is very important. Break your products and services down under catergories and sections. Don’t forget to mention the geographical areas you cover.

If, for instance, you want to rank under Houston Search Engine Optimization, it must say this in a H1 Tag at the beginning of the page. It must also be the title meta tag of the page as well. It should also be the first 4 words in the description tag too. Moreover, you should use that phrase in text links on blogs and directory links.
