Hosting (also known as Web site hosting, Web hosting, and Webhosting)
is the business of housing, serving, and maintaining files for one or more websites.

We have two advertised web hosting packages. However, Directory

What's your name? Can I ask for you personally?
You may always ask for your contact personally. Our support
center is fairly small. However, we see this as an advantage. Our
support personnel are a close-knit group that communicate freely
with one another. You will never talk to one representative who
promises you one thing, only to talk to another who contradicts
the first. Moreover, we pride ourselves on being available to our
clients, even at the executive level.
Do you offer around the clock support, and how much will it cost me?
We offer 24/7 network monitoring. Unfortunately, Directory One is
not yet able to offer 24/7 phone support. We do, however, provide
an 800 number to all our customers and are readily available from
9am to 5pm Monday through Saturday. All technical
support services at Directory One are free of
charge.
What are the restrictions on content?
Directory One reserves the right to refuse service to anyone.
Sites that may be refused include pornographic sites, sites
inciting racism or hatred, and sites depicting excessive graphic
violence.
How much space do I get?
Our more popular packages offer between 400MB and 800MB of storage, however more storage
is certainly available. Dedicated servers (servers that
host ONLY your website) are also available for those sites that
need extensive storage.
What kind of security features can I choose from?
Password protected directories are available to all of our
hosting customers. Our secure servers boast SSL--secure socket
layers. Websites interested in developing e-commerce, creating
product databases, and allowing credit card transactions will
need deluxe hosting.
How much hosting experience does your company have?
We have been hosting websites for over seven years.
Can you transfer my existing domain name and/or content?
Yes, both, unless you are under contract with another company
that prevents this.
How much room is there for growth, and will it be any hassle?
At Directory One, there is plenty of room for growth. The
migration between our packages is seamless.
Do you offer FTP access?
Absolutely. You will have FTP access to your site with all of our
packages.
What specific software do you support? We support FrontPage extensions. Our secure servers support PHP and Perl scripting and MySQL database capabilities. You will also have a personal CGI-bin supporting your website scripts. Our hosting can support extensive e-commerce capabilities from small, home-based sites to corporate solutions.
What assurances will I get in the way of redundancy?
Although our servers are very reliable, all host-servers go down
occasionally. The down time for our sites has always been
insignificant (less than 1% of the calendar year). However, if
you are concerned with down time, redundancy may be purchased:
multiple connections, site mirroring, and multiple mail routing
are available
Can I use scripting on my site, and is it okay to
conduct e-commerce?
Yes, of course. Scripting capabilities are supported by all our
servers. In fact, you will have your personal CGI-bin. E-commerce
sites generally require Silver Hosting.
Will my content be backed up regularly?
If your site is designed and updated by Directory One, your site
is backed up before and after any major design or content
changes. All customers may request a backup at any time.
If I sign up for your free service, how do you make money?
Obviously, we are not a free service. Free services often have
trade-offs in terms of banner ads, pop-up windows, obligations
for you to answer regular surveys, promising to receive
mail-outs, obscure lengthy URLs and so on. Because we are not a
free service, you are under no additional obligations to us.
Can I order regular traffic analysis reports?
Traffic Analysis Reports are included in all our hosting
packages.
