Directory One is a Houston-based company dedicated to providing nationwide businesses with an affordable, multifaceted approach to
a profitable--or more profitable--web site. Directory One assists businesses in creating a personalized
Website marketing solution. The solution consists of determining the best way to design,
maintain and promote each client's web site.
Directory One provides several services to help our clients achieve success in these areas: web site design,
search engine marketing, web hosting services,
domain name registration, database integration,
dedicated servers, E-mail services, Internet education and technical support.
Directory One is part of Directory One, Inc. Phillip O'Hara, co-founder and CEO of Directory One Inc, started the corporation with the idea
of providing affordable listings for small businesses in online directories. This idea of providing directory assistance is carried on is
several of Directory One's partner companies: Check Houston, Free Web Search,
E-Free Domain Registration and Free Directory Assistance.
Concept
Philip O'Hara, CEO of Directory One, spent the first several years of his advertising career working as a consultant to yellow page directories.
However, when he began to notice a shift away from traditional, paper directories to directories on the web, Philip, too, switched his allegiance.
In just a few short years, the Internet has become an invaluable advertising medium. Research shows that the Internet is growing at a rate that
is four times faster than television grew, and nine times faster than radio. However, many business owners still don't have a web site, and almost
all business owners do not use the Internet to their full advantage.
Research indicates that almost 80% of Internet users find web sites through major search engines such as Yahoo, Google, AOL, and Alta Vista.
However, only 13% of web sites are even registered with these search engines. In other words, of all the web sites in existence, only 13% of
them have a chance of being found by almost 80% of the people looking for them. Of these, only a fraction will rank high enough in search
engines that an Internet user will find them. The sad truth is, most Internet users will only look through the first one to three pages of results.
This means even if a site is lucky enough to rank sixty out of a million results, chances are it won't get seen.
Furthermore, just because a web site is found does not mean that it will be explored. A badly designed or slow web site is almost as likely
to be ignored as a web site that ranks badly in search engines.
To solve this problem Directory One has developed a comprehensive solution to web-site development. We recognize the need for a business to
build not only visually appealing, informative web sites, but also web sites that can be correctly maintained and promoted. As each customer
has different marketing needs, Directory One prides itself on tailoring a web-development-plan to each client; and to ensuring that his or
